Girls face a lot of pressure to look a certain way – from peers, the media or even family members.

And when girls participate in sport, the pressure can even be amplified, leading them to think that their bodies need to be a certain size and shape if they are to excel in their chosen sport. A recent Brown University study found that 16 to 72 percent of female athletes experience disordered eating, compared with five to ten percent of the general population.
